So much to see, so little time

03.10.2007 Madrid, Spain
Madrid is a big, cosmopolitan city which seems to have a lot to offer. Unfortunately I have only 1.5 days and can do no more than skim the surface.

The extravagant decoration of the rooms in the Palacio Real, or Royal Palace, almost causes sensory overload. I sneaked in a few pictures of the Royal Pharmacy before realising that photography was not allowed.

Near Plaza de la Puerta del Sol, in the centre of Madrid.

Atocha train station.

Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofia, formerly an 18th-century hospital, has a wonderful collection of predominantly Spanish modern art. There are numerous works by Joan Miró, Salvador Dalí and Julio González. It was amazing to see Picasso's Guernica in real life. It is of a much larger scale than I had imagined.
