The château has one wing in Gothic style, and the other in Renaissance style.
When Algiers was conquered and colonised by France, one of their leaders was imprisoned at the château with his family and entourage. Islamic gravestones in the garden mark the burial sites of those who died here.
One can see the transition in style from Gothic on the left to Renaissance on the right.
I think he might be afraid of heights.
